1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Primary Prep School (SW12)September start date
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a primary prep school setting in SW12.
Role OverviewThis role involves providing tailored, individual support to a pupil with ADHD and ASD who is currently finding it challenging to access the curriculum. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child re-engage with learning and build confidence in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities*Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
*Adapt tasks and teaching approaches to meet the pupil’s needs
*Support the pupil’s focus, engagement, and emotional regulation
*Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement support strategies
*Help the pupil gradually increase their participation and time in school
Pupil Needs*Diagnosed ADHD and ASD
*Currently on a reduced timetable (10:00am - 1:00pm), with the aim of increasing this over time
*Requires support with attention, transitions, and accessing learning
Ideal Candidate*Experience working with children with SEN (especially ADHD and ASD)
*Calm, patient, and proactive approach
*Ability to build strong, trusting relationships
*Flexible and resilient, with a positive attitude
*Background in education, psychology, or similar (desirable but not essential)
*Must have Enhaced DBS
Working Hours*Initially 10:00am - 1:00pm, with potential to increase as the pupil’s timetable expands
