Job Description:
Full job descriptionYour new company
Your new company is a well-established, independent London Market insurance brokerage with a strong European presence. The business is known for delivering high-quality, client-focused insurance solutions and operates with a collaborative, people-first culture where professional development is actively encouraged. The London Market division specialises in complex risk placements across Lloyd’s and company markets, working closely with brokers, clients and insurers to deliver tailored outcomes. Due to growth within the company’s Commercial team, a role for a Commercial Account Handler has arisen.
Your new role
In your new role as a Commercial Account Handler, you will be working within the Wholesale Commercial team, where you will play a central role in delivering an excellent service to clients, colleagues and carriers alongside supporting the placement and ongoing servicing of complex commercial risks within the London Market. You will work closely with producing brokers, building and maintaining strong relationships while acting as a key point of contact for both brokers and insurers on a day-to-day basis.
You will be responsible for the full life cycle of both new business and renewal cases, from initial engagement through to completion. This will include gathering and assessing client requirements, marketing risks to insurers, negotiating terms and ensuring that the most appropriate cover is secured.
You will also prepare high-quality documentation including MRC slips, quotes, endorsements, policy schedules and broker presentations. On the servicing side, you will manage mid-term adjustments, update records and systems and ensure all client and underwriting data is maintained accurately. You will also monitor outstanding cover requirements, liaise with insurers to obtain information or quotations, and ensure all documentation, invoicing and communications are handled in a compliant manner.
This new role will also involve maintaining pipeline and quote logs, contributing to management information reporting, and keeping up to date with market developments, insurer appetites and product changes. As part of a collaborative team environment, you will build strong internal relationships, contribute positively to meetings, and support more junior colleagues through knowledge sharing and day-to-day guidance. In addition, you will be expected to demonstrate a proactive approach to your own development by engaging in training and development opportunities, ensuring your technical knowledge remains current.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have prior experience within the insurance market, working as a Commercial Account Handler and may come from either a retail or wholesale background with a desire to develop further within the London Market. A strong understanding of general commercial lines business is essential, along with experience of using systems such as Acturis.
You will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers, clients and insurers. Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure are all key to succeeding in this environment. Progress towards or completion of Cert CII or Dip CII qualifications would be advantageous.
PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU HAVE WORKED AS A COMMERCIAL ACCOUNT HANDLER EITHER FROM A RETAIL OR WHOLESALE BACKGROUND AND WANT TO WORK ON WHOLESALE COMMERCIAL RISKS
What you’ll get in return
In return, you will receive a competitive salary of up to £47,000 depending on experience, plus bonus, alongside the opportunity to join a growing and supportive London Market team. You will benefit from ongoing professional development and exposure to complex risks, with clear opportunities for progression.
