About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Northampton area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people aged 4–19 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, alongside additional learning and communication difficulties.
This role would suit someone who is resilient, patient, and passionate about making a difference, with the ability to build strong relationships and support students in overcoming barriers to learning.

The school is a well-established, all-age specialist setting that provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for pupils with complex needs. Staff work collaboratively to promote independence, emotional regulation, and life skills, preparing students for adulthood.
The school is known for its strong pastoral ethos, supportive leadership team, and commitment to staff development.
Key Responsibilities
*Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
*Assist with delivering individualised learning and EHCP targets
*Support students with emotional regulation and behaviour management
*Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
*Implement strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviour
*Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
*Encourage development of social, communication, and life skills
*Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Requirements
*Previous experience working with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour (essential)
*Background in education, youth work, care, or support work considered
*Strong behaviour management and communication skills
*Calm, proactive, and resilient approach
*Ability to work effectively as part of a team
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
