Responsible to: Head of English
Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality English lessons that inspire a love of literature and language, raise attainment, and support students to achieve their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities*Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable).
*Teach a range of literature and language topics in line with the national curriculum.
*Assess, track, and support student progress effectively.
*Provide feedback to improve student outcomes.
*Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
*Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development.
*Support extracurricular activities such as reading clubs or writing enrichment.
*Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and high standards of behaviour.
Person Specification*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
*Degree in English or a related subject.
*Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
*Effective classroom management and communication skills.
*Enthusiastic, reflective, and committed to raising achievement.
*Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
