Full job descriptionFantastic new 12 month contract opportunity for a Records Assistant to work at a great charity organisation, in central London.


Salary £30500 + benefits.


As the Records Management Assistant, you will support the development and care of a structured archive of both physical and digital records.


Key Job Responsibilities will include:


- review, evaluate, and catalogue materials of potential historical significance, ensuring they are either preserved appropriately or securely destroyed when no longer needed.
- help prepare records for transfer to The National Archives in line with legislative requirements.
This is a hands-on role that will suit someone passionate about archives, knowledge preservation, and the heritage of public institutions.


Additionally, you will:


· Assist in developing an archive of physical and digital records
· Review paper and digital records for historical or organisational value
· Assess materials marked for destruction
· Prepare records for secure destruction where appropriate
· Support the transfer of paper and digital records to TNA
· Engage stakeholders and raise awareness of the Archive


Job/Profile Specification


The ideal candidate will have Archives and Records Management qualification and/or equivalent hands-on experience appraising records.
Ideally this will include digital records experience, using Content Manager or TRIM or a similar Electronic Document and Records Management system.


Furthermore, to be considered as a Records Assistant, you will need:


· Strong interest in archives, heritage, and knowledge preservation
· Ability to assess and interpret information across a range of formats
· Excellent organisational skills, with strong attention to detail
· Able to work independently, manage workload and use initiative
· Clear communication skills and confidence engaging with stakeholders
· Responsible, excellent, inclusive, open and respectful
