Job Description:
Full job descriptionHead of Department - Employment

Greater London - Hybrid Working

What’s in it for you?
*The opportunity to build and lead a brand-new Employment Law department from the ground up.
*Genuine autonomy to shape the department, its strategy and future growth.
*Clear route to Partnership or Equity Partnership.
*Hybrid and flexible working.
*Competitive salary tailored to your experience, with additional recognition for an existing client following.
*A supportive, forward-thinking firm investing in long-term growth rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
The Opportunity

An established and growing law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Employment Solicitor to establish and lead its Employment Law offering.

This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious lawyer who wants more than managing an existing team. You’ll have the platform to develop a new department, influence the firm’s strategic direction, recruit and mentor your own team, and build a highly successful employment practice.

Alongside managing your own varied caseload, you’ll play a key role in developing new business, strengthening client relationships and creating a profitable, long-term department.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for:
*Establishing and leading the firm’s Employment Law department
*Advising both employers and employees on a broad range of employment matters
*Managing a mixed contentious and non-contentious caseload
*Developing strong relationships with local businesses, introducers and professional contacts
*Driving business development and networking initiatives
*Recruiting, mentoring and managing team members as the department grows
*Working collaboratively with other departments to maximise cross-referral opportunities
*Managing departmental performance, profitability and financial targets
*Maintaining high professional standards, compliance and risk management
About You

You’ll ideally have:
*Around 6+ years’ PQE in Employment Law (although all suitably experienced applicants will be considered)
*Strong technical knowledge across both contentious and non-contentious employment matters
*Previous management or supervisory experience, or a genuine desire to move into a leadership role
*Commercial awareness with an interest in growing a successful department
*Excellent client care, communication and relationship-building skills
*A proactive approach to business development and networking
*An existing client following would be advantageous but is not essential
The Firm

This is a well-established and expanding firm with ambitious growth plans and a collaborative culture. They are committed to investing in new practice areas and empowering senior lawyers with the autonomy to shape the future of the business.

If you’re looking for the opportunity to build something of your own, with genuine support, flexibility and a clear route to Partnership, this is a role well worth exploring.
