They’re currently seeking a dynamic Plant Buyer to join their team at our Head Office in Plymouth - and you could be part of something amazing!
Day-to-day of the role:
*Develop the seasonal plant category, aligning with business objectives to drive sales, manage stock holding, and uphold margins.
*Manage supplier relationships across the UK and Europe, including regular communication and site visits, negotiating to ensure value for money and high product quality.
*Plan and manage delivery schedules compliant with plant import regulations and domestic requirements, securing sufficient stock volumes while minimizing category wastage.
*React to seasonal demands, identify risks, and find solutions to maintain availability and sales throughout the year.
*Monitor market trends, customer requirements, competitor activity, and product innovation, regularly analysing sales and suggesting improvements to the range.
*Create and develop promotional plans across the yearly calendar in collaboration with our Social and Marketing teams.
*Support the Gardens Buyer with ongoing projects linking the Plant category to the wider Gardens department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Proven retail buying experience, particularly with seasonal/perishable goods.
*Strong negotiation and commercial skills with excellent attention to detail.
*Ability to recognize new trends, analyse data, and forecast demand for seasonal peaks.
*Excellent organisation and communication skills with a commercial eye.
*Positive attitude, ability to thrive in a fast-paced business and work under pressure.
*Strong IT and Data Management Skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
*Comfortable working both individually and as part of a team.
*Must be able and willing to travel across the UK and Europe for trade shows and supplier/store visits.
