Full job descriptionA confidential specialist engineering business is looking to appoint a Technical Sales Executive into a newly created and highly important commercial role.
This is not a typical sales position. It is an opportunity to join a profitable, well-established business with a strong reputation in specialist international markets and a clear long-term progression route for the right individual.
The company operates across technical engineering sectors including offshore geotechnical, supporting seabed sampling applications, as well as horizontal directional drilling for major infrastructure, utilities and mining-related projects.
As the business continues to grow, the successful candidate will play a key role in managing customer relationships, developing new opportunities, and supporting the future commercial direction of the organisation.
What You’ll Be DoingYou will act as a key commercial and technical contact for customers, helping them identify the right products and solutions while working closely with internal engineering and operational teams.
The role will involve a mix of account management, technical sales, proposal support, pipeline development, customer visits, industry events and international travel.
Responsibilities will include:
*Managing and developing relationships with existing customers
*Identifying and winning new business opportunities
*Supporting customers in offshore geotechnical and specialist drilling markets
*Providing technical guidance on product selection and customer requirements
*Preparing and supporting commercial proposals
*Working closely with engineering, operations and aftersales teams
*Maintaining accurate pipeline, forecasting and sales activity reporting
*Representing the business at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events
What We’re Looking For in a Technical Sales ExecutiveThis role would suit a commercially minded individual with experience in technical sales, applications, engineering products or specialist industrial markets.
You do not need to come from the exact same sector, but you should be comfortable discussing technical products and building credibility with engineering-led customers.
The ideal candidate will have:
*Experience in technical sales, applications engineering, sales engineering or business development
*Exposure to engineering, industrial, offshore, geotechnical, drilling, utilities, mining, manufacturing or related markets
*Strong relationship-building and communication skills
*A consultative approach to selling
*The confidence to work with technical, operational and commercial stakeholders
*A proactive, hands-on mindset
*The ability to work in a small, agile business environment
*Willingness to travel internationally when required
*Ability to be in the Chesterfield office 3 days per week
