The Supply Register is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming school in Plymouth for an experienced School Caretaker.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous caretaking, premises or site management experience to join a supportive school environment. The role is initially temporary, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities*Opening and/or locking the school site as required.
*Carrying out routine maintenance of the school buildings and grounds.
*Undertaking minor repairs, including changing light bulbs, basic plumbing, painting, decorating and general DIY.
*Maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they remain safe, clean and presentable.
*Emptying bins, litter picking and assisting with general cleaning duties where required.
*Moving furniture, equipment and deliveries around the school.
*Monitoring stock levels of cleaning and site supplies.
*Liaising with and overseeing contractors working on site.
*Carrying out routine site inspections and reporting any maintenance issues.
*Supporting the school in maintaining high standards of health, safety and security.
*Working in line with safeguarding, health and safety and school policies at all times.
Requirements*Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant or Site Manager is desirable.
*School-based experience is advantageous but not essential.
*Practical DIY and maintenance skills.
*A proactive and reliable approach to work.
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
*Two satisfactory references covering the last two years of employment.
*Right to work in the UK.
