About the Role
We’re looking for senior Finance Leaders—from Financial Controller and Group Financial Controller through to Head of Finance, Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer—for upcoming leadership roles across high-growth, mid-market and established organisations. These are senior positions where you’ll own the finance function end-to-end, set the financial strategy and act as a genuine commercial partner to the CEO and board.
You’ll own the numbers and the function behind them—reporting, control, planning, cash and team—while making finance a driver of strategy rather than a scorekeeper. The role suits a qualified finance leader who pairs deep technical credibility with the commercial nous and executive presence to make finance a board-level conversation.
Key Responsibilities
*Own the finance function end-to-end—reporting, control, planning, treasury and tax oversight
*Set and own the financial strategy in service of the wider business strategy
*Lead month-end, year-end, statutory accounts, the external audit and the control environment
*Own budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning and capital allocation
*Manage cashflow, treasury, working capital and funding
*Build, scale and lead high-performing finance teams
*Strengthen financial controls, governance, risk and compliance
*Lead on fundraising, M&A, investor relations or banking relationships where in scope
*Drive finance systems, process and transformation
*Deliver board reporting and act as a true commercial partner to the executive team
What You’ll Bring
Leadership Expertise:
*Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA with substantial post-qualification leadership experience
*Demonstrable track record running or leading a finance function at relevant scale
*Experience building, scaling and developing finance teams
*Credibility and communication at executive and board level
Technical Expertise:
*Strong technical accounting (IFRS / UK GAAP), statutory reporting and audit management
*Breadth across FP&A, planning and commercial finance
*Treasury, tax and risk awareness
*Finance systems / ERP and transformation experience
*FCA or sector-specific regulatory awareness where relevant
Commercial & Soft Skills:
*Commercial partnering—connecting finance to strategy, growth and value
*Executive communication and storytelling for a non-finance audience
*Talent leadership—people want to work for you, and they stay
*Sound judgement, calm and credibility during audit, scrutiny and high-stakes decisions
*Comfortable shaping the agenda, not just delivering against it
Domain Flexibility:
*Roles span start-up and scale-up, SME, mid-market and large corporate across fintech, SaaS, retail, manufacturing, healthcare, professional services and public sector
*Background in any of these is welcomed; appetite to step into an adjacent sector valued just as much
Experience Level:
*Typically qualified with 8+ years for Financial Controller, 12+ for Finance Director / CFO; specific scope varies by level
*Background in financial leadership with at least one prior role owning function-level strategy
*Examples of finance functions, transformations or strategies you’ve owned end-to-end and the commercial outcomes they delivered
