Job Description:
Full job descriptionThis is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative finance team, gaining exposure to production finance, budgeting and forecasting while supporting the financial performance of high-profile TV productions. We’re looking for a proactive Finance Assistant with strong accounting fundamentals who is keen to develop their career, with a clear progression pathway into an Assistant Management Accountant role within approximately 18 months.
This is a hybrid opportunity, with three days per week in the office and the remainder working from home.
Key Duties*Accurately code, check and allocate invoices and purchase orders across multiple business divisions
*Manage the invoice authorisation process and resolve any related queries
*Review weekly freelance cost sheets and ensure production cost coding is accurate
*Assist with the recording and reporting of daily, weekly and monthly production costs
*Support the preparation and analysis of production cost estimates alongside operational teams
*Monitor actual spend, forecast final costs and report on remaining costs to complete
*Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end accounting entries
*Assist with the production of monthly management accounts, including reconciliations and financial analysis
*Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, reconciling actual spend against budget
*Take ownership of fixed production contracts, ensuring accurate accounting treatment
*Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations
*Allocate overtime costs and prepare expense returns
*Review travel expenditure and ensure costs are allocated correctly
*Support internal and external audit processes through the preparation of documentation and reports
*Assist with finance systems improvements, including ERP and production accounting system implementation
*Promote best practice around finance processes and purchase order compliance
*Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
*Maintain detailed process documentation for month-end and routine finance activities
*Support ad hoc finance projects, reporting and analysis
*Assist with sustainability reporting and data collection where required
*Build strong working relationships across Finance and Production teams, providing ongoing support to stakeholders
Key skills:
*Previous experience in a Finance Assistant or similar finance role
*Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA, or keen to continue professional studies
*Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, including debits and credits
*Good understanding of finance processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
*Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
*Confident working with large volumes of financial data
*Strong Excel skills and experience using finance or ERP systems
*Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across Finance and operational teams
