Role OverviewWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Primary Teacher to join a specialist primary school in Skelmersdale, supporting pupils aged 4-11 with a range of additional learning needs. This rewarding role involves delivering an engaging, personalised curriculum that enables every child to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities*Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum to meet individual learning needs
*Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
*Develop, implement, and review Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and personalised learning plans
*Create a safe, structured, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes positive learning experiences
*Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise achievement
*Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, therapists, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development
*Foster pupils’ confidence, independence, communication, and social skills through positive relationships and consistent behaviour support strategies
Requirements*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
*Previous experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a primary setting
*Strong understanding of a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech, language and communication difficulties
*Ability to adapt the primary curriculum to meet the needs of individual learners
*Excellent classroom management with a patient, flexible, and nurturing approach
*Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
