Role Overview
Position: HR Consultant (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Focus)
Salary: £42,839 pa
Location: Mostly remote, 1 day per week on-site
Contract: Permanent
A Local Authority in the South West are seeking a skilled HR Professional to help strengthen the way the organisation supports, engages, and manages its workforce. The position carries a specialist focus on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), alongside a shared commitment to high-quality HR advice and policy development to ensure employment practices remain fair, accessible, and aligned with legislation.
Role Details
*Review and develop HR policies to ensure clarity, fairness, and compliance with employment legislation
*Provide guidance on complex HR casework, including conduct, performance, and attendance
*Support organisational projects requiring HR or policy expertise, particularly those shaping workforce culture
*Act as a key HR link with managers and colleagues to promote consistent and fair people practices
*Contribute to learning resources and training that enhance people-management capability
*Provide workforce insights to inform Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) on HR policy and employment matters
*Support the development and review of policies to embed fairness, accessibility, and inclusion
*Act as a key HR link for colleague networks, strengthening engagement and colleague voice
*Use feedback and data to identify EDI risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities
Requirements
*Proven and significant local authority expertise is essential for this position
*Solid HR experience, including a background in policy development and/or complex casework
*Strong EDI knowledge and/or job evaluation experience
*Good understanding of employment law and contemporary HR best practice
*Ability to analyze workforce information and data to present clear, evidence-based insights
*Collaborative working style with the ability to handle sensitive discussions with professionalism and balance
*Chartered Member of the CIPD or equivalent professional experience is highly desirable
