Robert Half is exclusively partnering with a large, well-established UK organisation to recruit a Head of Accounts Payable.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced people manager to lead a high-volume Accounts Payable function of approximately 25 people, including four direct reports. The business is looking for someone who can inspire, develop and lead from the front, creating a high-performing, engaged team while driving continuous improvement across the function.
This is a highly visible role within the finance leadership team, offering the opportunity to influence processes, develop people and build strong relationships across the wider business.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll be responsible for the overall leadership and performance of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring operational excellence whilst identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading, coaching and developing a team of approximately 25 people through four team leaders.
* Creating a positive, high-performance culture where individuals are supported, challenged and developed.
* Taking ownership of the end-to-end Accounts Payable function across a complex, multi-site business.
* Ensuring supplier payments are accurate, timely and compliant while maintaining strong financial controls.
* Driving process improvements, automation and efficiencies across the purchase-to-pay cycle.
* Working closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Procurement, Operations, Commercial and IT.
* Monitoring operational performance through KPIs, service levels and reporting.
* Supporting month-end activities and leading improvement projects across the function.
About You
We’re looking for a confident and approachable leader who enjoys developing people just as much as improving processes.
You’ll ideally bring:
* Experience leading a large Accounts Payable or Shared Services team, ideally managing 15-20+ people.
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams.
* A calm, collaborative management style with the confidence to challenge when needed.
* Experience operating within a high-volume, multi-site environment.
* A track record of driving process improvements and delivering operational change.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business.
* A proactive, forward-thinking approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and progressive organisation that genuinely values its people. The finance function is highly visible within the business, and this role offers real scope to influence how the Accounts Payable function operates while developing a large team and contributing to wider business improvements.
The business offers a hybrid working model (three days per week in the North Wales head office), a competitive salary of £85,000-£90,000, bonus and an excellent benefits package.
If you’re an experienced finance leader who enjoys developing people, driving change and leading large operational teams, we’d love to hear from you.
