An established and highly respected independent accountancy practice is seeking an experienced Tax Director to join its leadership team in Northampton.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished tax professional to take on a strategic leadership role, overseeing a diverse client portfolio while driving the growth and development of the firm’s tax offering. The successful candidate will work closely with the Partners, providing expert technical advice, developing client relationships and supporting the continued success of the business.
The Role
As Tax Director, you will lead the delivery of both compliance and advisory services across a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses, corporate clients and high-net-worth individuals.
Key Responsibilities*Leading and developing the firm’s tax function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality compliance and advisory services.
*Managing a portfolio of complex tax clients, acting as a trusted adviser on a broad range of tax matters.
*Providing strategic tax planning advice, including business restructures, succession planning, shareholder planning, acquisitions, disposals and corporate reorganisations.
*Identifying opportunities to add value for existing clients while supporting business development initiatives.
*Reviewing complex tax computations and advisory work prepared by the wider tax team.
*Leading, mentoring and developing Tax Managers and junior team members.
*Working collaboratively with Partners and colleagues across other service lines to deliver integrated client solutions.
*Managing client relationships, budgets and departmental performance to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
*Keeping abreast of changes in UK tax legislation and ensuring technical excellence across the team.
About You
The successful candidate is likely to have:
*CTA, ACA and/or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
*Significant experience within an accountancy practice, operating at Senior Manager, Associate Director or Director level.
*Strong technical knowledge across corporate and personal tax, with substantial advisory experience.
*A proven ability to manage complex client portfolios and build long-term client relationships.
*Experience leading and developing high-performing tax teams.
*Excellent commercial awareness, communication and leadership skills.
*A proactive approach with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding client service.
