The opportunity:

We’re exclusively retained by a highly respected, engineering-led organisation to appoint a commercially focused Business Unit Director to lead it through a phase of growth.

This is an exceptional opportunity to take ownership of a profitable, well-established business with a strong reputation for delivering engineered products, controls and integrated solutions into technically demanding environments.

With the backing of a larger group but significant operational autonomy, you’ll be responsible for defining and executing the next phase of development. Reporting directly to the Group leadership team, you’ll take full responsibility for commercial performance, operational excellence and the long-term strategic direction of the business.

This role is ideally suited to a commercially driven business leader who enjoys developing markets, building high-performing teams and delivering sustainable, profitable growth.

The role:

As Business Unit Director, you’ll have full accountability for the performance of the business, including:
*Full P&L ownership with responsibility for revenue growth, profitability and overall business performance.
*Developing and delivering the commercial strategy to increase market share and drive sustainable growth.
*Leading and developing an experienced management team across Sales, Operations, Engineering and Customer Support.
*Building and strengthening strategic relationships with key customers, OEMs, contractors, distributors and partners.
*Identifying new market opportunities, routes to market and potential product or service expansion.
*Driving operational excellence while maintaining exceptional levels of customer service and technical support.
About you:

We’re interested in speaking with experienced business leaders who can demonstrate:
*Previous experience as a Managing Director, General Manager, Business Unit Director, Divisional Director or similar senior leadership position.
*Full P&L responsibility within an engineering, manufacturing, technical distribution or technology-led business.
*A strong commercial background with a proven track record of delivering profitable growth.
*Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across sales, operations and engineering.
*The ability to develop strategy while remaining hands-on when required.
*Strong stakeholder management skills with experience operating at Board level.
*Experience within one or more of the following sectors would be highly advantageous:*Building Management Systems (BMS)
*HVAC Controls
*Building Automation
*Sensors & Controls
*Industrial Automation
*Process Instrumentation
*Electronic Components
*Technical Distribution
*Engineered Products
*Fire & Security Technologies
*Smart Buildings or adjacent technical markets
