Job Description:
Full job descriptionMacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting an Interim Financial Accountant (18 months) to join a well-established business, based North of Colchester. As an Interim Financial Accountant, you will be working with a collaborative finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting a range of transformation initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Financial Accountant who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with process improvement and project work.
Duties & Responsibilities:
*Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting requirements.
*Prepare and post journals with minimal supervision.
*Support the preparation and completion of statutory accounts and group reporting submissions.
*Perform reconciliations of debtor, creditor and intercompany balances across multiple entities.
*Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
*Liaise with external auditors, tax advisers and other key stakeholders, providing documentation and responding to queries as required.
*Ensure accounting policies, controls and governance requirements are applied consistently.
*Lead and support finance improvement projects, including systems enhancements and process optimisation initiatives.
*Mentor and support junior team members where required, with potential line management responsibilities.
Key Skills & Attributes:
Essential:
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
*Minimum two years’ post-qualification experience.
*Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using financial systems.
*Excellent understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting requirements.
*Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
*Effective written and verbal communication skills.
*Ability to influence stakeholders and build positive working relationships.
*Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
*Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desirable:
*Previous audit and assurance experience.
*Experience working within a shared services, multi-entity or group reporting environment.
*Exposure to finance systems implementation or process improvement projects.
