Based in Spinningfields, Manchester, our client has grown rapidly since entering the UK market in 2015 and is looking to recruit an Assistant Property Underwriter to join its expanding team. You’ll benefit from continued technical development, exposure to a varied portfolio of commercial property risks and genuine long-term career progression.
Responsibilities:
*Supporting the assessment of commercial property insurance risks through technical underwriting and risk selection.
*Assisting in the management of existing clients while supporting new business opportunities and tenders.
*Reviewing qualitative information, including construction details, risk surveys and protection systems, to build accurate risk assessments.
*Analysing information and preparing underwriting recommendations.
*Building strong relationships with broker partners and colleagues across the business.
*Continuing to develop your technical underwriting knowledge while working alongside experienced underwriting professionals.
What we are looking for:
*Previous experience within commercial underwriting, ideally as an Assistant Underwriter or in a similar underwriting support role.
*A strong analytical mindset and the ability to make informed underwriting decisions.
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain your decision-making.
*A genuine interest in insurance and risk management.
*Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.
*The ability to prioritise your workload effectively.
*Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
*Confidence analysing qualitative information and working with data.
*A passion for learning and professional development.
*Knowledge of SQL and/or Python would be advantageous but is not essential.
