Full job descriptionTeaching Assistant – Full Time
Would you like to work in a motivating, rewarding and fulfilling school community, where engaging children are encouraged to challenge themselves, grow and flourish?
Reed is currently recruiting on behalf of a successful and popular Church of England junior school. The school is proud of its committed and professional staff team, who work together to provide high-quality learning opportunities within a nurturing, caring and distinctly Christian ethos.
Their vision, "Growing together, becoming all we are created to be," underpins all that they do and is lived out through four core values of Forgiveness, Aspire, Compassion and Engage. These values shape relationships, learning and a commitment to every child’s personal and academic development.
The Governors are seeking to appoint:
A full-time, experienced and enthusiastic Grade 5 Teaching Assistant to work predominantly in Year 5. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of Teaching Assistants to provide learning support for all children across the year group.
The role also includes targeted support for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The successful candidate will work closely with fellow TAs, the class teacher and SENCo to deliver structured, consistent support that promotes engagement, emotional regulation and access to learning.
Responsibilities will include:
*Supporting the child to follow routines
*Breaking learning into manageable steps
*Using visual prompts and positive behaviour strategies
*Responding sensitively to sensory needs
The role requires someone who is patient, flexible and proactive, who can enable all children to flourish.
The position is fixed term until 21 July 2027 (end of summer term 2027), with a view to extending should funding allow.
We are looking for professionals who are:
*Committed to supporting children to aspire in all aspects of school life
*Compassionate and calm
*Able to work independently and as part of a team
*Able to create engaging learning activities
*Happy, dedicated and able to liaise professionally with outside agencies and parents
In return, the school offers:
*Motivated children who role model high standards of behaviour and a willingness to learn
*A creative and highly skilled team of teachers and teaching assistants
*A rich and exciting curriculum
*A supportive and forward-thinking Senior Leadership Team that prioritises professional development
The successful candidate will:
*Provide and assess targeted support for pupils, including those with special educational needs or disabilities
*Have experience working with children with special educational needs
*Deliver planned interventions to raise attainment and progress
*Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities
*Keep up-to-date records in line with guidance from the SENCo and Senior Leaders
*Support supervision duties (e.g. playground and movement around the school)
*Use the National Teaching Assistant Standards to inform their practice
*Evaluate interventions using baseline assessments where appropriate
*Complete required paperwork for interventions and individual pupils
*Plan and prepare small group activities
Full job description and application details are available upon request.
