Hourly Rate: £15.55 - £17.01(UMBRELLA)
Location: Greenwich
Job Type: Part-time
We are seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our team, providing essential learning and accessibility support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across various departments. These roles are pivotal in facilitating access to learning programmes and college services, enhancing personal development, and supporting educational outcomes aligned with individual Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).
Day-to-day of the role:
*Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of the support managers and curriculum team leaders.
*Support the development of self-advocacy and independent learning skills of learners.
*Contribute to the assessment of students’ learning and personal progression, collaborating with staff to develop person-centred support plans.
*Provide support and assistance to learners for their personal care, safety, and well-being.
*Anticipate barriers to learning and participation, developing intervention strategies to minimise difficulties.
*Maintain thorough knowledge of learners’ needs and learning objectives throughout their study programme.
*Ensure learners can access and fully utilise college support services and participate productively in college life.
*Manage and ensure the availability and operational status of specialist equipment, assistive technologies, and facilities as necessary.
*Support learners with additional physical/medical needs, ensuring appropriate supervision and support.
*Address any mobility issues within the building and other safety concerns in accordance with college Health and Safety guidelines.
*Assist in reviewing learners’ progress in line with college policies, ensuring individual support plans are updated and teaching staff are informed of any barriers to learning.
*Liaise with external agencies such as parents and key workers, forwarding information to support managers as needed.
*Attend meetings as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*Experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
*Strong understanding of the needs of individuals with SEN.
*Ability to work effectively under the direction of multiple managers and alongside a diverse team.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Proficiency in managing and operating specialist educational equipment and technologies.
