SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary School) Location: Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-time / Term-time (Part-time considered)
About the RoleWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Harrogate from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence, and thrive within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities*Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN (e.g. Autism, ADHD, speech and language, SEMH)
*Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted and inclusive lessons
*Support the implementation of EHCPs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
*Encourage pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development
*Promote positive behaviour and reinforce school expectations
*Help create a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment
*Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals
*Support with personal care if required (training provided)
*Monitor and record pupil progress

Essential Requirements*Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
Desirable*Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
*Experience within a primary school setting
*Knowledge of autism, SEMH, or speech and language support strategies
*Team Teach or behaviour support training
