Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is seeking motivated and professional individuals to join its investigative teams as Police Staff Investigators (PIP1).
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with investigative, policing, criminal justice, regulatory, compliance, safeguarding, insurance fraud, financial crime, or evidence-gathering experience who are looking to build a rewarding career investigating crime and supporting victims.
As a Police Staff Investigator, you will play a key role in investigating volume and priority crime, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and suspects, managing risk, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and building high-quality case files to support the criminal justice process.
The Role
Working within an investigative team, you will manage a varied caseload of crime investigations, ensuring all reasonable lines of enquiry are pursued and that evidence is gathered, assessed, and presented to the highest professional standards.
You will work closely with victims, witnesses, suspects, partner agencies, and criminal justice professionals while ensuring investigations remain fair, proportionate, and victim-focused.
Key Responsibilities
*Investigate volume and priority crime from initial report through to conclusion.
*Gather and assess evidence, intelligence, statements, CCTV, digital material, and other investigative information.
*Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects in accordance with legislation and investigative best practice.
*Identify and pursue lines of enquiry to establish facts and support investigations.
*Conduct risk assessments and implement safeguarding measures where required.
*Build and manage case files, ensuring compliance with disclosure requirements and evidential standards.
*Maintain accurate records and audit trails throughout investigations.
*Liaise with colleagues, partner agencies, and stakeholders to progress investigations effectively.
*Manage exhibits and evidential material in accordance with policy and legislation.
*Support vulnerable victims and witnesses throughout the investigative process.
About You

*Experience gathering and assessing complex information.
*Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
*Understanding of the criminal justice system or investigative processes.
*Ability to make balanced decisions based on evidence and risk.
*Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
*Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce accurate reports and records.
*Full UK driving licence.
