Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our client’s team in Eye, Suffolk.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on customer-focused engineering projects, producing accurate designs, drawings, and Bills of Materials that support efficient manufacturing and project delivery.

Working closely with engineering, production, and project teams, you’ll play a key role in developing innovative design solutions, enhancing 3D design capabilities, and ensuring products are delivered safely, accurately, and to the highest standards. Ideal for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys problem-solving, collaboration, and making a real impact.

Duties Include

*Produce and review approval, fabrication, and construction drawings, ensuring accuracy and delivery within agreed timescales.
*Create and check Bills of Materials (BOMs) and parts lists, ensuring they are accurate, up to date, and released efficiently to production.
*Work closely with customers, colleagues, and manufacturing teams to ensure clear communication and the smooth flow of information.
*Support the ongoing development and use of Autodesk Inventor 3D and Vault Professional across the Engineering & Design team.
*Apply Design for Manufacture principles and value-engineering techniques to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.
*Follow engineering best practice to design out hazards and minimise risk wherever reasonably possible.
*Contribute ideas and initiatives that improve processes, efficiency, and overall team performance.
*Actively support Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, and ISO 9001 quality initiatives to enhance business performance.
Skills and Attributes

*Proficient in Autodesk Inventor 3D, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software, along with AutoCAD.
*Able to work independently, using initiative to deliver high-quality, accurate work within deadlines.
*Strong engineering and manufacturing background with sound technical knowledge.
*Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
*Familiarity with ERP systems would be advantageous.
*Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline, or relevant industry experience.
*Knowledge of iLogic, Python, or other automation/programming tools would be beneficial.
