Location: Romford (Hybrid, as required)
Duration: 3 Months (Interim)
Rate: £300–£450 per day (Umbrella)
We are seeking an experienced Interim Payroll Manager to join our client, a not for profit organiation on a 3-month contract based in Romford. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong system transformation experience to play a key role in supporting payroll operations during a period of change.
Working closely with key stakeholders, you will ensure payroll continues to run accurately and compliantly while contributing to payroll system improvements and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
*Lead and support payroll system transformation and process improvement projects.
*Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery.
*Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, pensions, statutory payments, and other regulatory obligations.
*Review, improve, and document payroll processes and controls.
*Work collaboratively with HR, Finance, and external payroll providers where applicable.
*Resolve complex payroll queries and provide expert payroll advice.
*Identify risks and implement solutions to enhance payroll efficiency and compliance.
*Support testing, implementation, and optimisation of payroll systems.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
*Proven experience as a Payroll Manager or Senior Payroll Professional.
*Demonstrable experience delivering payroll system transformation or payroll implementation projects.
*Extensive knowledge of UK payroll legislation and payroll compliance.
*Strong end-to-end payroll management experience, ideally within a complex organisation.
*Excellent understanding of HMRC regulations, pensions, statutory payments, and payroll best practice.
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
*Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
*The ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced interim assignment.
