Full job descriptionSchool Librarian - Southeast LondonWe are seeking a friendly, organised, and enthusiastic School Librarian to join a welcoming school in Southeast London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about reading, literacy, and creating a positive learning environment for students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the school library, maintaining and organising library resources, supporting students and staff with book selection and research, and promoting a love of reading through engaging displays, activities, and events.
Key Responsibilities*Manage the daily operation of the school library.
*Catalogue, organise, and maintain books and other learning resources.
*Support students in developing research and independent learning skills.
*Encourage reading for pleasure through library initiatives and events.
*Assist teachers in sourcing appropriate resources to support the curriculum.
*Maintain a welcoming, safe, and organised library environment.
*Monitor book loans and returns using the school’s library management system.
Requirements*Previous experience working in a library, school, or similar educational setting is desirable.
*Excellent organisational and communication skills.
*A proactive and approachable attitude.
*Good IT skills and the ability to manage library systems.
*A genuine passion for literacy and supporting young people.
*An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential.
