We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join a successful and expanding business, taking responsibility for a substantial customer ledger and playing a key role in maintaining healthy cash flow.
In this position, you will oversee the full credit control process, ensuring outstanding balances are collected promptly while effectively managing credit risk and building strong relationships with customers. This role would suit someone who is confident working autonomously, making commercial decisions, and contributing to the wider success of the finance function.
This is a full-time, office-based position working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm.
Main Duties
*Maintain and manage a large customer ledger, ensuring debts are collected in a timely manner.
*Contact customers by phone and email to recover outstanding payments professionally and efficiently.
*Carry out credit checks and reviews for both new and existing customers, recommending suitable credit limits.
*Monitor overdue accounts and aged debt reports, identifying potential risks and taking appropriate action.
*Agree payment plans where necessary and work with customers to resolve account queries and disputes.
*Collaborate with insurers, brokers, and colleagues across the business regarding credit limits, debt recovery, and risk management activities.

About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within credit control, specifically managing larger or more complex ledgers. You will be commercially aware, confident assessing risk, and comfortable making informed decisions to protect the business while maintaining positive customer relationships.
You will be an excellent communicator, able to handle difficult conversations professionally and negotiate effective payment solutions when required. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, are essential.
The successful individual will be self-motivated, capable of working independently, and comfortable taking ownership of the credit control function. Due to the location, a driving licence and access to your own transport are required.
