Full job descriptionNenebrook Recruitment Group have been retained by one of our highly respected and rapidly expanding clients within the Regulated Financial & Professional Services sector. With a well-established head office in the East Midlands, the business is entering an exciting period of growth — both organically and through strategic acquisition.
As part of this evolution, NRG have been exclusively appointed to recruit a Finance Director.
This is a pivotal leadership role, working closely with the CFO and operating as the second most senior finance leader within the Group.
The successful candidate will be calm under pressure, highly organised, commercially astute, and confident operating at Board level while remaining hands-on and supportive of a small, capable finance team.
While experienced Finance Directors are strongly encouraged to apply, this opportunity is also well-suited to an ambitious No.2 stepping up — such as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Head of Finance ready to take their first Finance Director position.
Key Responsibilities*Act as a trusted business partner to Directors across the organisation
*Develop enhanced processes enabling daily forecasting and improved agility to market conditions
*Build new analysis and reporting tools to drive performance through insight and data
*Lead marketing and campaign analysis to optimise spend and maximise revenue growth
*Conduct competitor and market analysis, supporting due diligence during acquisition activity
*Produce and deliver high-quality financial and operational analytics
*Lead the budgeting and forecasting cycle with accuracy and commercial insight
*Oversee monthly balance sheet reconciliations, petty cash and expenses
*Manage the company pension scheme
*Strengthen the link between sales and finance, ensuring accurate reporting of revenue and costs
*Drive improvements in the quality, efficiency and integrity of management information
*Liaise with external stakeholders including banks, auditors and regulatory bodies
*Lead and deliver cost-saving initiatives, process improvements and automation projects across the Group
About You*Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 3–5+ years PQE
*Strong experience producing management accounts, budgets and forecasts
*Proven experience managing a small finance team while remaining hands-on
*Demonstrable track record of process improvement and strengthening financial controls
*Strong commercial and financial analysis capability with the ability to influence, challenge and support
*Ideally experienced within a regulated environment and/or Legal, Professional or Financial Services
*Proficient with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting platforms
