Are you an experienced Safeguarding practitioner passionate about championing child protection?
We are looking for an ambitious and committed Deputy DSL to support on all safeguarding and child protection work in the Academy.

The Team
You will work closely with the Deputy Head with strategic responsibility for safeguarding and SLT to ensure Broadway Academy’s safeguarding responsibilities are fully met and proactively managed. As part of the pastoral team, you will co-ordinate, advise and support year teams and academy staff to deliver safeguarding responsibilities to the highest standards.

The Role
You will be responsible for whole school safeguarding and child protection across the Academy (including online safety and understanding the filtering and monitoring systems in place). You will ensure the Academy is statutorily compliant and maintains a strong culture of safeguarding.

Your role includes: overseeing the Academy’s safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date and effective; taking part in strategy discussions and inter-agency meetings and contributing to the assessment of children; advising and supporting staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters; liaising with relevant agencies such as the local authority and police; and training staff and managing a team of Year Link DSLs.

You will have:
* DSL qualification - ideally at level 5
* Excellent knowledge of KCSIE, Safer Working practice, Prevent and Online Safety
* Substantial experience of DSL work in an education environment, preferably secondary
* Excellent organisational skills and communication skills
* Significant experience of managing challenging conversations with students and parents around safeguarding and well-being
* Experience of Multi-agency working and an understanding of the role of agencies in keeping children safe
