Hours: Monday to Friday, 06:00 – 14:00 (40 hours per week)
Salary: £26,436 per annum
The Opportunity
I’m recruiting for a Nursery Operative to join a busy horticultural team in Ipswich. This is a hands-on role supporting the care and maintenance of nursery stock, ensuring plants remain healthy, well-presented, and ready for dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
*Watering, feeding, and caring for plants to maintain quality standards
*Carrying out plant health and quality checks
*Potting surplus stock to extend product life and reduce waste
*Assisting with plant passport labelling
*Keeping glasshouses, polytunnels, and nursery areas clean, tidy, and weed-free
*Supporting stock checks and maintaining accurate records
*Assisting with deliveries and associated paperwork
*Reporting quality, maintenance, or health and safety concerns promptly
*Ensuring plants are stored correctly at the end of each shift
*Supporting fertiliser application programmes
*Assisting with pest and disease management where relevant licences are held
*Operating a forklift where licensed and required
About You
*A genuine interest in horticulture and plant care
*Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
*Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently and as part of a team
*Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment
*Previous horticultural or nursery experience is advantageous
*Forklift and/or spraying licences would be beneficial
*Due to the location, you will need to drive
