The Supply Register on behalf of Northumberland College
The Supply Register is currently recruiting for an Estates Maintenance Assistant to support Northumberland College at its beautiful Kirkley Hall campus.
This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and practical individual with maintenance, estates, facilities, or caretaking experience to join a busy college environment on a full-time basis.
The role will support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the college site, helping to ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
The Role
As an Estates Maintenance Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
*Carrying out general maintenance and repair tasks across the campus
*Supporting the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and facilities
*Assisting with site security and opening/closing procedures
*Undertaking basic plumbing, painting, decorating, and maintenance duties
*Responding to maintenance requests in a timely manner
*Supporting health and safety compliance across the site
*Assisting with room setups and college events where required
*Working as part of the wider estates and facilities team
Working Hours
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week.
Candidates must be flexible to work various shifts between:
6:00am – 11:00pm
Shift patterns will be discussed during the recruitment process.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Previous maintenance, facilities, caretaking, estates, or site experience
Good practical and DIY skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong awareness of health and safety practices
Reliable, professional, and flexible approach
Good communication skills
Desirable:
Experience working within education, public sector, or large site environments
Relevant maintenance or trade qualifications
Basic knowledge of building maintenance systems
