We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Commercial Account Handling Manager to manage a portfolio of commercial insurance clients while leading and developing a Commercial Account Handling team.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role. You will manage and service your own portfolio of commercial insurance clients, handling renewals, mid-term adjustments and new business enquiries, and delivering exceptional client service and strong renewal retention. In addition, reflecting your seniority and experience, you will take on responsibility for overseeing a team of four Commercial Account Managers, ensuring workloads are managed effectively, service standards are maintained, and back-office processes and procedures are consistently followed.
Working closely with senior management, you will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence and compliance with regulatory and internal standards across the Account Handling function.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Senior Account Handler, Team Leader or Account Handling Manager who enjoys managing clients, developing people, improving processes and driving high levels of client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Client Portfolio Management
*Manage and service your own portfolio of commercial insurance clients.
*Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers and key stakeholders.
*Handle renewals, mid-term adjustments, new business enquiries and general account servicing activities.
*Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service.
*Support client retention and identify opportunities for account growth and cross-selling.
Team Leadership & Management
*Oversee, motivate and develop a team of three Commercial Account Managers.
*Provide technical support, coaching and mentoring to team members.
*Conduct regular one-to-one meetings and performance reviews.
*Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees.
*Support the ongoing professional development of the team.
*Foster a collaborative, positive and high-performing culture.
*Manage workloads and resource allocation across the team.
Renewals & Service Delivery
*Oversee the renewal process across the Account Handling team.
*Monitor renewal pipelines to ensure deadlines and service standards are achieved.
*Support complex renewals and referrals where required.
*Ensure client documentation is produced accurately and within agreed timescales.
*Drive best practice in account management and client servicing.
*Work closely with insurers and broking colleagues to achieve positive client outcomes.
Operational Excellence
*Ensure all back-office processes and procedures are adhered to across the team.
*Maintain accurate records and high standards of administration.
*Monitor service levels, workflow efficiency and operational performance.
*Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance team productivity.
*Support the implementation of new initiatives and business improvements.
*Produce and review management information where required.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
*Ensure adherence to FCA regulations, Consumer Duty requirements and company procedures.
*Support internal audits and quality assurance reviews.
*Monitor file quality and documentation standards.
*Ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are consistently met.
*Assist with the resolution of operational and compliance-related issues.
*Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy and continuous improvement.
Systems & Technology
*Champion best practice in the use of internal systems and technology.
*Support colleagues in the effective use of Acturis and other business systems.
*Work with management to improve system utilisation and operational efficiencies.
*Act as a key point of contact for process and system-related queries.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
*Proven experience within Commercial Insurance Account Handling.
*Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and markets.
*Experience managing client portfolios and renewals.
*Previous leadership, supervisory or team management experience.
*Understanding of FCA regulations and compliance requirements.
*Excellent organisational and time management skills.
*Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
*Ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing demands effectively.
*Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
*Working knowledge of Acturis.
Desirable
*Previous experience as an Acturis Super User/system champion.
*Experience supporting, training or mentoring colleagues on systems and processes.
*Experience leading operational improvements and process efficiencies.
*Cert CII or progress towards professional qualifications.
