Are you an experienced Finance Manager looking to join a growing construction business where you can take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in supporting business performance?
Our client, a well-established construction company, is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations across the business. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, combining operational finance with management reporting and financial controls.
The Role
Reporting into the Directors, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the accounts function, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely financial reporting.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Managing and processing supplier payments
*Raising and issuing invoices, ensuring accurate job and cost allocation
*Producing weekly and monthly wage costings
*Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
*Performing bank and credit card reconciliations
*Completing CIS returns and ensuring compliance
*Managing HMRC liabilities including PAYE, VAT and CIS
*Preparing monthly Work in Progress (WIP) adjustments
*Completing quarterly VAT returns
*Managing intercompany and divisional cross-charging processes
*Maintaining direct debit schedules and monitoring recurring costs
*Managing company utilities and supplier contracts
*Supporting and overseeing credit control activities
*Overseeing payroll processes and payments
*Processing staff expenses and reimbursements
*Managing and reconciling company fuel card accounts
About You
To be successful in this position, you will have:
*Previous experience within an Accounts Manager, Finance Manager or similar role
*Strong understanding of UK accounting principles and financial controls
*Good knowledge of VAT, CIS and HMRC reporting requirements
*Experience producing management accounts and financial analysis
*Excellent Excel skills
*Experience using accounting software, ideally Xero
*Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
*Confident communication skills and the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
Desirable
*AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
*Experience within the construction sector
