We have an Organisation searching for a Trainee Manager role . This position is designed for experienced and qualified Deputy Managers or Managers who are seeking progression into a Registered Manager role, with the view to submitting their SC2 application for registration following a successful three-month induction and development period. You will be shadowed throughout your journey and fast tracked to RM.

Trainee Children’s Home Manager Salary:
*Starts at £36-38,000 per annum depending on experience (including on-call responsibilities
*Sleep-ins paid at £50 per sleep
*Potential initial earnings of approximately £44,000 per annum
*Progression to earnings of up to £50,000+ upon successful registration as Registered Manager
*Bonus structure available throughout the development pathway linked to progression, service development, and continued professional growth


Journey of Trainee Children’s Home Manager
Your journey will begin within our established operational children’s home in Walsall Wood, which is currently transitioning into a specialist therapeutic bridging service.
The home is being developed to support children and young people who are ready to transition from residential care into fostering placements but may have become "stuck" within residential services due to trauma, attachment difficulties, or placement instability.
Working closely alongside fostering teams, therapists, psychologists, and external professionals, the service will focus on preparing children for successful family-based care through therapeutic, trauma-informed interventions and emotionally attuned support.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop an innovative model of care that prioritises stability, healing, and long-term outcomes for children and young people.


Phase 1 – Trainee Children’s Home Manager (Walsall Wood)
Initially, your role will be predominantly shift-based within the home, allowing you to:
*Develop strong operational leadership skills
*Build meaningful relationships with children and staff
*Learn the therapeutic bridging model in practice
*Support the development of the home’s culture and systems
*Gain experience in safeguarding, leadership, compliance, and quality assurance
*Work alongside experienced leaders, psychologists, and fostering professionals
*Support staff development and reflective practice
Alongside your operational responsibilities, you will also receive protected admin and development time to support:
*Leadership training
*Management responsibilities
*Regulatory understanding
*Staff supervision
*Care planning and audits
*Ofsted readiness
*Team development
*Participation in the Managers Development Programme


Phase 2 – Trainee Children’s Home Manager Registration Pathway (3–6 Months)
Following a successful induction and development period, the intention is for you to progress toward registration as the Registered Manager for our second children’s home located in Wednesbury.
At this stage, you will:
*Begin preparing your Ofsted registration application
*Continue receiving mentoring and leadership support
*Support both homes operationally during the transition period
*Contribute to service development and quality assurance
*Develop confidence in all aspects of residential leadership and management


Phase 3 – Trainee Children’s Home Manager Transition Into Registered Manager Role (Wednesbury)
Once your registration application is processed, you will transition into a full-time management role at the Wednesbury home.
This is your opportunity to:
*Recruit and develop your own staff team
*Shape the culture and identity of the home
*Prepare the service for registration and opening
*Embed therapeutic and trauma-informed practice from the outset
*Develop systems, routines, and leadership structures
*Build a home environment aligned with our ANESI values

Due to current Ofsted registration delays, this transition period may take up to 12 months, providing valuable time to fully prepare for registration, strengthen your leadership capability, and truly make the Wednesbury home your own before becoming the registered manager
Requirements of Trainee Children’s Home Manager
*Minimum of 18 months’ experience in a Deputy Manager role within Children’s residential care.
*Holds Level 3/4 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
*Holds or is working towards Level 5 in Leadership and Management
*Full understanding of Ofsted rules and regulations, safeguarding and trauma informed practice
*Full UK Driving Licence
