Part-Time Accountant / Accounting Assistant
Location: Shrewsbury (Hybrid - office based with flexibility to work from home)
Hours: Approximately 4-5 days per month (with potential to increase)
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Part-Time Accountant / Accounting Assistant to support our Finance Director with key financial processes.
Initially, the role will require approximately 4-5 days per month, primarily around month-end, with the potential for additional hours as the business grows.
Your responsibilities will include:
*Supporting the month-end close process.
*Preparing and reviewing account reconciliations.
*Managing accruals and prepayments.
*Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns.
*Maintaining accurate financial ledgers.
*Assisting with month-end management reporting.
*Supporting year-end preparation and liaising with external accountants where required.
*Carrying out bookkeeping tasks, including bank reconciliations and credit control.
*Maintaining accurate financial records within Xero.
*Responding to routine finance queries from colleagues.
*Assisting with other finance-related duties as required.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
*A strong understanding of accounting and finance principles.
*Experience of month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, VAT returns, year-end preparation and bookkeeping.
*Experience preparing financial reports and supporting the production of financial statements.
*Strong Microsoft Excel and general Office skills.
*Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
*The ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
*Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
