Experienced Finance Manager looking to take ownership of a growing business’s financial function?
We’re recruiting for a Head of Finance to join a rapidly expanding estate agency group based in Bury St Edmunds. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to work closely with the company Directors, playing a key role in shaping financial strategy and supporting continued business growth.
This senior position offers genuine responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to influence key commercial decisions within a successful and evolving organisation.
The Role
As a Head of Finance, you will:
*Take ownership of the full finance function across the business
*Lead, support, and develop a small finance team
*Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, budgets, and cash-flow reports
*Produce monthly profit and loss accounts with clear analysis of performance, profitability, variances, and improvement opportunities
*Monitor business performance against agreed KPIs and provide recommendations where required
*Work closely with the leadership team to develop and improve commercial and operational performance measures
*Provide financial insight by identifying trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement
*Manage day-to-day finance operations, including payments, banking, reconciliations, and financial controls
*Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, supplier payments, and credit control
*Support annual budgeting, business planning, and future growth strategies
*Liaise with external accountants, advisers, suppliers, and key stakeholders
*Improve financial systems and processes to support business efficiency
*Manage Xero across the finance function, including reporting, reconciliations, invoicing, payment processes, and controls
Head of Finance Requirements
*Proven experience in a similar senior finance role
*Recognised accounting qualification
*Strong experience preparing management accounts, P&L reports, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow reporting
*Experience managing finance operations and improving processes
*Confident using Xero, including reconciliations, invoicing, reporting, and payment workflows
*Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
*Commercially minded with the ability to provide clear financial insight
*Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work closely with Directors and senior stakeholders
