Full job descriptionJob Title: SME Account Executive
Location: South Wales
Salary: Circa £30,000 – £32,000, with flexibility for the right candidate
Benefits: Annual tax-free EOT bonus subject to profits, annual performance incentive, funded CII courses and exams
About the Company:
A well-established, employee-owned insurance brokerage with a strong reputation across Wales and the wider South West. The business has built a stable, client-focused presence over many years, offering commercial insurance, risk management and wider professional services. It is a supportive and development-led environment, with clear backing for professional qualifications and long-term career growth.
Role Summary:
This is a desk-based SME Account Executive role, managing an existing portfolio of SME clients from start to finish. You will take ownership of the full policy lifecycle, including new business processing, mid-term adjustments, documentation, debt chasing and renewals. The role offers a strong balance of client ownership, warm inbound lead work, retention and growth targets, with support towards CII qualifications and hybrid working once probation is completed.
Key Responsibilities:
*Manage an existing SME portfolio: Gain real ownership of client relationships and outcomes across a broad range of SME risks
*Run the full policy lifecycle: Build technical depth by handling new business, MTAs, policy documentation and renewals from start to finish
*Take responsibility for administration and debt chasing: Develop strong commercial control and visibility over service standards without relying on admin support
*Deliver retention and growth targets: Increase your impact through cross-sell, upsell and account development activity
*Handle warm inbound new business leads: Focus on quality advice and conversion rather than cold calling or client visits
*Work towards professional development: Benefit from funded CII support, study days, tutor input and pass-related rewards
Requirements:
*Strong understanding of the SME commercial insurance policy cycle
*Experience handling SME risks, ideally including premiums up to around £10,000
*Confidence managing cases from start to finish, including documentation, MTAs, renewals and debt chasing
*Good knowledge of commercial insurance products relevant to SME clients
*Ability to manage a desk-based portfolio with strong organisation and attention to detail
*Open to broker or insurer backgrounds, provided there is a clear understanding of the full policy lifecycle
If this role isn’t quite right, it’s still worth speaking to one of our specialist team - we may be working on something that hasn’t hit the market yet.
