Full job descriptionAre you a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys solving problems, improving reliability, and keeping production moving? As a Maintenance Engineer at our Edinburgh site, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the performance of our manufacturing operation, helping to ensure our world-famous products continue to reach customers across the UK.
Working within a skilled and collaborative engineering team, you’ll be at the heart of a fast-paced food manufacturing environment where no two days are the same. From maintaining cutting-edge production equipment to supporting continuous improvement projects and enhancing plant reliability, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference every day.
Working on a rotating continental-style shift pattern, you’ll alternate between 12-hour day shifts (6:00am–6:00pm) and night shifts (6:00pm–6:00am). You’ll work an average of 42 hours per week while benefiting from 14 days off every 28-day cycle, providing regular extended breaks and supporting a strong work-life balance alongside a rewarding engineering career.

Responsibilities
*Help keep our bakery performing at its best by supporting the reliability and availability of a diverse range of modern manufacturing equipment and site services.
*Be part of a highly skilled engineering team focused on delivering operational excellence across a busy, high-volume production environment.
*Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment performance, drive efficiency, and support long-term site success.
*Work across a broad range of mechanical systems and technologies, providing plenty of variety and opportunities to expand your technical expertise.
*Play an important role in maintaining the high standards of quality, safety, and food manufacturing excellence that our customers expect from FBC UK.
Criteria
*A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification, ideally gained through a time-served apprenticeship.
*Experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
*Strong mechanical aptitude combined with a proactive approach to learning and development.
*Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for delivering high standards.
*A collaborative mindset and the flexibility to thrive within a fast-paced engineering team.
