Quantum Scholars are looking for a caring, patient and experienced SEN Tutor to support children and young people in and around Yeovil, Somerset.
This is an in-person tuition role. Tuition will usually take place in the child or young person’s home and/or a suitable community setting, depending on the individual referral. Please note that this is not online work, so applicants must be able to travel to Yeovil and the surrounding areas.
We work with children and young people who may be educated other than at school, awaiting a suitable placement, or in need of personalised support due to SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety or gaps in education.
We are particularly interested in tutors who have experience supporting learners with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful tutor will need to provide a calm, nurturing and flexible approach, helping learners build trust, confidence and positive engagement with education.
The role may involve:
*Providing 1:1 in-person tuition for children and young people in and around Yeovil
*Supporting learners with EBSA, ADHD, ASD and associated SEMH needs
*Travelling to pupils’ homes and/or suitable community settings
*Planning and delivering personalised learning sessions
*Using creative, practical and interest-led approaches to support engagement
*Helping learners build confidence, routine and positive learning habits
*Supporting academic progress at a pace that is right for the learner
*Adapting sessions to suit each learner’s needs, ability and emotional readiness
*Working professionally with parents/carers and relevant professionals
*Keeping brief records of session content, attendance, engagement and progress
Essential requirements:
*Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
*Experience or strong understanding of EBSA, ADHD and ASD
*A calm, patient, nurturing and flexible approach
*The ability to build positive relationships with learners who may find education challenging
*The ability to plan engaging, personalised learning sessions
*Strong communication and organisational skills
*A clear commitment to safeguarding and supporting positive outcomes for children and young people
*The ability to travel to in-person tuition sessions in and around Yeovil
*The legal right to work in the UK
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants who do not meet this requirement.
Please also note that this is not an online tutoring role. Applicants must be available for in-person tuition in Yeovil and the surrounding areas.
Qualified Teacher Status would be highly desirable, particularly for referrals requiring a qualified teacher. We would also welcome applications from experienced tutors, instructors or education professionals with strong SEN experience.
Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS certificate and be able to provide suitable references.
This is a rewarding opportunity to provide personalised, face-to-face support to learners who need a flexible, understanding and highly individualised approach to education.
To apply, please send your CV to Quantum Scholars or contact us for more information.
