Full job descriptionBehavioural Safety Performance Coach (Ex-Military)
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 basic + Company Vehicle + attractive benefits
Location: South, South East & Thames Valley (Field-Based) with weekly team meeting in Hemel Hempstead
Employment: Full Time, Permanent
This is a unique opportunity for an ex-military professional to join a leading infrastructure business in a newly created role focused on improving safety culture across operational teams.
This is not a traditional Health & Safety Advisor position centred around audits and compliance. Instead, you’ll work alongside frontline teams, coaching positive behaviours, building trusted relationships and helping improve operational performance across live operational sites.
If you’ve led people in demanding, high-risk environments and are passionate about developing others, this role offers the opportunity to transfer those leadership skills into a strategic coaching position with genuine long-term career progression.
The Role
As a Behavioural Safety Performance Coach, you’ll spend most of your time visiting operational sites across the South, South East and Thames Valley, coaching frontline teams and supporting managers to continually improve safe working practices.
Using operational data to identify coaching opportunities, you’ll reinforce positive behaviours, improve service avoidance and help build a proactive safety culture across the business.
Behavioural Safety Performance Coach Responsibilities
*Coach frontline teams on behavioural safety and safe working practices.
*Build trusted relationships with operational teams and site managers.
*Promote positive safety behaviours through coaching and mentoring.
*Support service avoidance and safe excavation best practice.
*Observe working practices and provide constructive feedback.
*Use operational data to target coaching activity.
*Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
*Champion a positive safety culture across multiple operational sites.
Behavioural Safety Performance Coach Benefits
*£40,000 - £50,000 basic salary.
*Company vehicle.
*Overnight accommodation and expenses covered.
*Play a key role in building a brand-new behavioural coaching function.
*Influence safety culture across a leading infrastructure business.
*Clear progression as the coaching team expands.
*Training provided in specialist areas including service avoidance.
*Autonomous, field-based role with no two days the same.
*Monday-Friday working with no routine weekend working.
Behavioural Safety Performance Coach Requirements
*Ex-military background with proven leadership experience in high-risk operational environments.
*Strong coaching, mentoring and communication skills.
*Ability to influence behaviours and build trusted relationships.
*Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
Applications are particularly welcomed from Royal Engineers, REME, Royal Signals, Royal Logistic Corps, Royal Navy Engineering, RAF Engineering, Combat Engineers, EOD, Military Police, Training Instructors and other Armed Forces personnel with experience leading people in operational environments.
Desirable: NEBOSH, Behavioural Safety, Service Avoidance, CAT & Genny or Permit to Work (training can be provided).
