As an Independent Living Manager, you’ll be the person residents turn to every day to make that possible. You’ll be based in a development operated by a specialist provider of independent living homes. You’ll own the smooth day-to-day running of the building, balance detailed compliance work with hands-on support, and build the kind of relationships where residents trust you with both practical issues and welfare concerns.


What You’ll Do


Take ownership of the day-to-day management of an independent living development, ensuring it remains safe, secure and well maintained for every resident.
Be the trusted first point of contact for residents on property matters, welfare concerns, emergencies and everyday questions, promoting their independence rather than doing everything for them.
Carry out daily walkarounds, monthly compliance checks and quarterly communal fire door inspections, ensuring communal areas and safety systems meet compliance and are ready for inspection.
Coordinate maintenance and contractors so repairs are completed promptly with minimal disruption to residents.
Support residents’ wellbeing by offering practical help with appointments or technology, and by raising safeguarding concerns with adult services or external agencies when needed.
Keep resident information and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) up to date so the right details are always available in an emergency.
Use your understanding of leasehold rights and responsibilities to handle queries fairly and consistently, escalating complex issues to your line manager while maintaining positive relationships and community engagement.


What You’ll Bring


You have experience in property or housing management, ideally within retirement or independent living, or a closely related environment.
You have a genuinely approachable, friendly manner with empathy, patience and understanding for residents aged 55 and over.
You have strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with leaseholders, their families, contractors and colleagues.
You have awareness or working knowledge of leasehold management and housing compliance, plus the willingness to deepen that knowledge on the job.
