Full job descriptionTradewind Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist primary setting in Rochdale.
This is a full-time, long-term temporary role from September 2026.
The school supports pupils aged 3-11 with a wide range of complex needs including Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, sensory needs and severe learning difficulties. Due to the needs of the pupils, previous experience working within a SEND school or specialist provision is essential. Applications from candidates without relevant SEND experience will not be considered.
The Role
*Full-time SEND Teaching Assistant in a specialist primary setting
*Supporting pupils with complex SEMH and SEND needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
*Managing behaviour, emotions and regulation strategies to support learning
*Working closely with teachers, therapists and wider support staff
*Supporting EHCP targets and individual learning plans
*Building positive, consistent relationships with pupils who can present with challenging behaviour
*Recording progress, incidents and interventions where required

To be considered, you must:
*Have recent experience supporting children or young people in a SEND school or specialist provision
*Have experience supporting pupils with complex SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
*Be confident working in high-needs environments
*Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one
*Provide a full employment and education history with references
*Have the legal right to work in the UK
