We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and committed Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our team in a dual-role capacity as a Learning Mentor and Class Teaching Assistant.The successful candidate will provide classroom support within a Year 5 class during the mornings and deliver targeted intervention sessions in the afternoons, supporting groups of EAL (English as an Additional Language) pupils and delivering phonics-based interventions.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) and be confident leading whole-class learning when required. The successful candidate may be asked to cover the Year 5 class on occasion, for example during short-term teacher absence, training courses, or other planned events.
Key Responsibilities
Morning Duties – Year 5 Class Support
*Support teaching and learning within a Year 5 classroom.
*Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging and effective learning experiences.
*Support individual pupils and small groups to achieve learning objectives.
*Assist with classroom preparation, organisation, and resource development.
*Promote positive behaviour and pupil engagement.
*Support pupils with a range of learning, social, and emotional needs.
Afternoon Duties – Intervention Support
*Plan and deliver targeted intervention sessions to groups of EAL pupils (typically 6–8 pupils per group).
*Support pupils in developing English language skills, vocabulary acquisition, reading, writing, and communication.
*Deliver phonics interventions to support literacy development and pupil progress.
*Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress within intervention programmes.
*Adapt activities to meet the varying needs of learners.


Essential Requirements
*Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
*Experience working within a primary school setting.
*Strong understanding of teaching and learning across Key Stage 2.
*Confidence in leading whole-class learning and supervising pupils independently.
*Experience delivering interventions and supporting pupil progress.
*Good understanding of phonics and literacy development.
*Experience supporting pupils with EAL needs or willingness to develop expertise in this area.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
*Ability to build effective relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
*Excellent organisational and behaviour management skills.
*A positive, proactive, and flexible approach.
