Full job descriptionSenior Backend Developer | Java | Spring Boot | Hybrid| Contract RoleLocation: London (Hybrid) 3 days per week in office.

Contract Length: 12 month rolling
We’re working with a leading global organisation looking to hire a Senior Backend Developer to join a high-performing engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, enterprise-grade backend platforms, helping to shape technical architecture while building robust, scalable Java applications.
What You’ll Do*Design and develop backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
*Build and enhance scalable microservices and REST APIs
*Drive architectural decisions focused on performance, security and scalability
*Work across the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and production support
*Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver strategic technology initiatives
*Champion engineering best practices, code quality and automated testing
*Mentor developers and provide technical leadership where needed
What We’re Looking For*7+ years of Java backend development experience
*Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch and Spring Integration
*Experience building microservices and RESTful APIs
*Strong SQL skills and experience with Oracle
*Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
*Familiarity with Git, JUnit, Unix/Linux and shell scripting
*Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines
*A solid understanding of distributed systems, backend performance and application security
