Full job descriptionMacKenzie King are delighted to be recruiting a part-time Senior Bookkeeper for a fantastic local outsourcing company on the outskirts of Ipswich. Supporting a varied portfolio of clients, you will be responsible for month-end reconciliations, preparing profit and loss reports, submitting VAT and CIS returns, and supporting transactional finance activities. This role would suit an experienced finance professional seeking a flexible position of 20-25 hours per week within a collaborative and growing business.
Key tasks and responsibilities
*Prepare month-end reconciliations, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.
*Produce profit and loss reports and other management information for clients.
*Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns accurately and on time.
*Support the processing and review of transactional finance activities, including sales and purchase ledger functions.
*Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and client queries.
*Provide month end reporting and other periodic financial reporting requirements.
*Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
*Support the implementation of efficient financial processes and controls.
*Provide administrative and financial support on ad hoc projects as required.
*Work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team.
Qualifications and experience
*AAT qualified, part-qualified accountant, or qualified by experience.
*Experience in a Senior Bookkeeper, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role.
*Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, CIS, and month-end processes.
*Experience producing profit and loss reports and supporting management reporting.
*Proficient in accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
*Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
*High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
*Ability to manage workloads effectively and work independently.
*Confident communicator with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
*Able to work effectively within a small, collaborative team environment.
