Working within the Marine Specialty Ipswich/Manchester as Underwriter for Marine Cargo & Freight Liability business.
Main duties *Underwriting and reviewing new and renewal risks, taking into account type of risk, nature of subject matter, limits, voyages, stock locations, turnover. rating guidelines and claims experience.
*Production and distribution of policy documentation.
*Input and maintain accurate records within the Underwriting and Accounts systems and capture relevant data to allow for the successful monitoring and analysis of risks written.
*Monitor risks written that are due for renewal.
*Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the Underwriters.
*Liaise with brokers and policy holders to obtain information to provide a quote and produce insurance documentation. Chase for outstanding premium/adjustments/declarations.
*Raise invoices/credits as required in relation to the policy wording.
*Liaise with other departments in Lonham and Chaucer as required.
*Liaise with brokers and clients to develop good working relationships.
*Attend training sessions and other meetings, as and when required.
*Work collaboratively to support Senior Development Underwriter.
Regulatory responsibilities Comply with all policies and procedures and ensure that due regard is paid to providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers.
Manage the relationships with Customers, Agents and Service Providers:
*Advise, assist and service customers on insurance and risk matters to promote customers’ satisfaction
*Foster positive relationships with customers and attain an understanding of their needs
*Ensure that customer complaints are promptly identified, recorded and referred as appropriate
*Assist with the completion of all required annual product review assessments to agreed timescales with approvals obtained and recorded
*Follow all Chaucer Group Product Governance processes in the UCM and obtain appropriate approvals
*Ensure that the principles of providing good customer outcomes and the fair treatment of customers are upheld by Agents and Service Providers.
Skills and Competencies
*Experience working with a marine underwriting background, with an in depth knowledge of marine cargo clauses.
*Organised and able to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
*Able to communicate with different levels and is adaptable
*Works as part of a team and able to work in a pressured environment
Education *5 GCSE passes (minimum Grade C or new grade 5), including Maths and English
*3 A Levels A-C or equivalent
*ACII or equivalent
