Job Description:
Full job description • I’m working with a leading international life reinsurer looking to hire a nearly or newly qualified actuary into a growing Retirement Solutions team.
This is a broad actuarial role sitting close to both new business and the in-force portfolio, with exposure to reporting, business planning, transaction onboarding, capital analysis, management information and process improvement. It would suit someone who enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers, working across different reporting bases, and communicating clear insights to senior stakeholders.
The team supports a fast-growing retirement reinsurance portfolio, with work covering both the asset and liability side of the balance sheet. You would work closely with actuarial, finance, operations, pricing, systems and client-facing teams.
Key responsibilities
You will be involved in:
Preparing, analysing and explaining quarterly actuarial results across multiple reporting bases
Supporting forecasting, business planning, MI production, data checks and portfolio analysis
Helping with new business onboarding and in-force management initiatives
Supporting regulatory and capital-related reporting requirements
Improving processes, controls and reporting efficiency as the portfolio continues to grow
Working closely with stakeholders across actuarial, finance, operations, pricing and client solutions
Ideal background
Nearly or newly qualified actuary
Life insurance or life reinsurance experience, ideally with some reporting, valuation, capital, pricing or BPA / retirement exposure
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good understanding of actuarial valuation principles and controls
Experience improving processes, models or reporting workflows
Comfortable working with data, MI and technical analysis
Strong communicator who can explain results clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Able to manage varied work and deadlines in a fast-moving environment
Exposure to US reporting, Bermuda reporting, economic capital or funded reinsurance would be useful, but is not essential.
Why consider it?
This is a good opportunity for someone who wants a broader role than pure reporting. You will get exposure to a growing retirement reinsurance portfolio, senior stakeholders, new business, in-force management and balance sheet analysis, while developing a deeper understanding of how actuarial results link to commercial decision-making.
