Pastoral Officer
Location: Rotherham
Job Type: Temporary (6 Months)
Salary: £15.58 per hour
Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week
Reed Further Education are currently recruiting for a Security and Pastoral Officer based at a college in Rotherham.
We are seeking an experienced security professional who is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment for learners, staff, and visitors. This role would particularly suit candidates who have worked within education, youth services, social care, residential settings, or environments supporting young and vulnerable people.
The successful candidate will combine strong security knowledge with excellent interpersonal skills, supporting both the safety and wellbeing of students across campus.
Key Responsibilities
*Maintain a safe and secure environment across college buildings and grounds
*Conduct regular patrols of the campus and surrounding areas
*Monitor CCTV systems and respond appropriately to incidents
*Manage access control and visitor entry points
*Respond to security incidents, emergencies, fire alarms, and safeguarding concerns
*Act as a visible presence to deter anti-social behaviour and security risks
*Work closely with staff to support student welfare and behaviour management
*Promote positive conduct and assist with conflict resolution and de-escalation
*Provide supervision and support to vulnerable learners in communal areas
*Deliver first aid assistance when required
*Complete incident reports and maintain accurate records
Person Specification
Essential requirements:
*Previous security experience
*Valid SIA Licence
*CCTV Operative qualification/licence
*Enhanced DBS on the update service
*Experience working in a college, school, educational, youth work, social care, residential care, or support setting
*Experience supporting young people, vulnerable adults, or learners with additional needs
*First Aid at Work certificate (within the last 3 years)
*Experience dealing with the public and managing incidents
All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
