Hays are delighted to be working with an expanding business in the Aylesbury area, who require an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join the team on an initial interim basis.
Your new role
The Accounts Payable Clerk will be responsible for maintaining the company’s purchase ledger, ensuring all invoices are processed accurately and paid within agreed timeframes. The role will also involve supporting the finance team with various ad-hoc duties.


*Invoice Processing: Process purchase invoices and credit notes, ensuring they are matched to purchase orders and delivery notes.
* Invoice Checking: Verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company procedures.
*Invoice Coding: Accurately code invoices to the correct accounts to support financial reporting.
* Ledger Management: Assist in managing purchase and sales ledger activities.
* Payment Runs: Prepare and process weekly/monthly payment runs via BACS.
* Reconciliation: Reconcile supplier statements and investigate/resolve discrepancies.
* Query Resolution: Handle supplier queries efficiently and in a timely manner.
* Reporting: Support month-end processes and assist with annual audit preparation.
*Ad-hoc Duties: Provide general support to the finance team as required.
What you’ll need to succeed
Experience: Previous experience in a similar accounts payable or purchase ledger role is desirable. Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
IT Skills: Proficient in Sage accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Organisation: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
Qualifications: AAT qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential. No other quals needed Experience: Background in accounts payable or purchase ledger preferred.
