Are you passionate about improving people’s lives? At GCH we Adapt, we Inspire, we Own it and we Care. We live by our values and are dedicated to delivering on our commitment to customers. If that sounds like you, why not join us?
We’re seeking a Homeless Accommodation Officer to be responsible for the coordination of temporary accommodation and housing support for customers experiencing homelessness, ensuring accommodation is managed effectively and residents receive appropriate support.
You will manage temporary accommodation placements and occupancy across our schemes, ensuring accommodation is allocated effectively and in line with service priorities. You will build positive, supportive relationships with residents, taking the time to understand their individual circumstances and helping them progress towards stable, long-term housing solutions.
Working closely with residents, you will identify support needs and connect individuals with appropriate services to promote wellbeing, independence and tenancy readiness. Collaborating with housing colleagues, local authorities and support agencies, you will deliver coordinated responses to homelessness and accommodation needs, ensuring residents receive the right support at the right time. The role also involves monitoring resident wellbeing and behaviour to help maintain safe, respectful and inclusive living environments, while ensuring accommodation meets required standards, health and safety regulations, and organisational policies.
We’d like you to…
*Level 3 or above Housing, Housing Support, Community Support, Health and Social Care or a related qualification/equivalent professional knowledge gained through practice.
*Good understanding of homelessness services and temporary accommodation management within a housing or support environment.
*Working knowledge of homelessness legislation and local authority duties relating to homelessness and housing support.
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with residents, colleagues and partner organisations.
*Ability to manage sensitive and challenging situations in a calm, professional and solution-focused manner.
*Experience of working collaboratively with local authorities, support agencies and community services to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
*Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage accommodation placements, maintain accurate records and prioritise a varied workload.
*Ability to encourage, motivate and support residents to develop the skills and confidence needed to access and sustain independent housing.
You must have a UK Driving licence with access to a vehicle.
