Full job descriptionOcean Import Operator - Ipswich - Up to £36,000Right Now Group are recruiting for an experienced Ocean Import Operator on behalf of a well-established international freight forwarding business based in Ipswich.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Ocean Imports professional looking to develop their career within a growing freight forwarder. Whilst the primary focus of the role will be managing Ocean Import shipments, the successful candidate will receive full training across Air, Freight, Road Freight and Export Operations, making this an ideal opportunity for someone looking to broaden their freight forwarding knowledge. Previous customs clearance experience is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities of an Ocean Import Operator*Manage end-to-end Ocean Import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
*Complete import customs entries in accordance with HMRC regulations.
*Prepare and process all import documentation, including Bills of Lading, customs paperwork, arrival notices, and shipping documentation.
*Liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, customers, warehouses, and internal departments to ensure the smooth movement of freight.
*Coordinate deliveries and monitor shipments, providing proactive updates to customers throughout the shipment lifecycle.
*Resolve operational issues, including customs queries, shipment delays, and documentation discrepancies.
*Ensure all import files are completed accurately and invoiced in a timely manner.
*Maintain accurate operational records and update internal freight forwarding systems.
*Receive full training across Air Freight operations and both Air & Ocean Export processes to become a multi-modal operator.
Skills & Experience Required for an Ocean Import Operator*Previous experience working within Ocean Import Freight Forwarding.
*Customs clearance experience is essential.
*Good understanding of import documentation and HMRC customs procedures.
*Excellent communication and customer service skills.
*Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
*Experience using freight forwarding systems (CargoWise experience advantageous but not essential).
*A proactive attitude with a genuine desire to develop into a multi-modal freight forwarding professional.
Salary & Benefits for an Ocean Import Operator*Salary up to £36,000 depending on experience.
*Monday to Friday working hours.
